Dairy Show 2013 – demonstration of dairy resilience.

 

Against the backdrop of prevailing issues related to falling milk prices at procurement level, huge inventory of SMP stock and other issues related to setting in of a harsh dry season, the 2nd edition of the dairy show was held between 22-24 March, 2013 in Hyderabad.

Despite a plethora of negative factors affecting the India Dairy sector, stakeholders of the sector showed resilience and indulged in various deliberations during the event which can improve the dairy performance. Breeding, Feeding and Health were the triple theme of the event. The enthusiasm of dairy farmers for imbibing best practices in dairy farming to withstand all negative factors was witnessed throughout the event. A large number of the farmers from across South India turned up for the event.

The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of Animal Husbandry and he was accompanied by senior officials from the department, dairy association representatives, international dairy representative, and academic experts. Despite extremely busy schedules The Hon’ble Chief Minister of AP visited the event on the first day evening and spent a quality 1 hour visiting the exposition and live animal display. While address the dairy farmers and media the Hon’ble CM announced an increase in the state dairy outlay with a current allocation of 1300 Cr.

The value add to the 2nd edition was an animal competition under various breeds as well as milking competition among exotic breeds.

No wonder 98% of the exhibitors expressed happiness in terms of objectives met through the event ! hence it will be apt to say – Dairying and Dairy Show is here to stay !
